Settlement agreements for employees & workers

Settlement Agreements can be complex, but we’re here to guide you. Our expert solicitors explain the terms clearly and help secure the best outcome for your situation.

Helpful advice to explain the terms

A Settlement Agreement is an agreement between an employer and an employee in which the employee agrees not to bring claims against the employer. There are certain statutory requirements that have to be met for a Settlement Agreement to be valid, and one of these is that the employee has to take independent legal advice on the agreement before signing it. That’s where we come in.

Settlement Agreements can be used in lots of different situations, including when a ‘protected conversation’ has taken place, but everyone’s circumstances are unique, so it is important to get the right advice. We understand that it may be a difficult time and the process can be confusing, but we are here to help you and explain it all.

Our friendly team of solicitors advise on hundreds of Settlement Agreements each year, covering everything from straightforward voluntary redundancies to high value complex disputes. We regularly act for clients all over England and Wales and can advise you by telephone, email or Teams, whatever suits you best.

Whatever your situation, our solicitors take the time to explain the terms of the Settlement Agreement to ensure you are fully aware of what you are agreeing to. We can advise you on issues such as notice pay, bonuses, employee benefits and potential claims, and where appropriate, we can negotiate with your employer to ensure you get the best possible deal.

We can also advise on other forms of settlement such as COT3s (which are settlements reached through ACAS).
