Magdalene Haywood
Solicitor
Magdalene is an experienced commercial property solicitor specialising in property development work.
Magdalene has a Master’s degree in Advanced Legal Practice (Commercial Property) and is a former visiting lecturer at the University of Law in London. She was the co-founder and Managing Partner of Davies Lavery Solicitors which merged with national law firm Kennedys in 2008.
Acting for UK developers and off-shore investors, Magdalene has been involved in a number of high profile projects over the years including developing sites for occupation by national food retailers such as Sainsburys, Somerfield, Tesco and Waitrose, out of town schemes for tenants including Halfords, B & Q and Topps Tiles and a significant city centre student accommodation scheme for Canterbury Christ Church University.
In addition she has acquired large residential sites and mixed use schemes for clients later sold to national house-builders or institutional investors.
Her approach is to work with clients rather than for them and in doing so Magdalene visits sites before acquisition and during the construction phase, building relationships with the design consultants and contractors.
On the rare occasions when she is not working or spending time with her beloved family, Magdalene enjoys the many distractions that living in Brighton has to offer, relaxing with a good film (or even a bad one) and trying to hold back the years with various forms of physical torment.
