We understand that the cost of pursuing a professional negligence claim is an important consideration. Our aim is to offer flexible and transparent funding options so that financial concerns do not prevent you from seeking a positive outcome. We believe that a strong client relationship is built on clear communication and trust. From the outset, we will explain our charges and provide an initial cost estimate for your case. If the scope of work changes, we will update you promptly and ensure that no additional costs are incurred without your consent. Should you wish, we can set an agreed cost limit to help you stay in control of expenses.

Funding options

Depending on the nature and strength of your claim, we may be able to act on a:

  • ‘No win, no fee’ basis;
  • ‘Discounted fee’ basis;
  • ‘After the event’ insurance;
  • Funding from third parties;
  • Risk sharing with insurers; or
  • Risk sharing with lawyers.

Risk sharing relates to those who may offer to share the risk of your litigation, such as insurance companies or lawyers, or a combination of the two.

Some cases will simply not be suitable for risk sharing with third parties, but we can advise you on available options.

Unless you agree with us one of the alternative funding arrangements, our normal Terms and Conditions of business will apply. These set out the nature of the relationship between us and set out our charges which are calculated based on the time we spend progressing your claim.

We provide an initial estimate of costs, which we will only revise if the scope of the case changes. We estimate up to, for example, the lodging of your claim at court, and provide you with an estimate of the next stage of your case. We can also agree at the outset if you wish to place a limit on the costs that will be incurred. We can then seek your permission before further work on the case is done.

Please do remember, an estimate of costs is a general guide rather than a binding quotation, however, we will inform you if and why your costs will exceed any estimate that we give.
