Carmen is dual qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales, and as an Abogado in Spain. She holds a LLM in International Commercial Law from Sussex University and a Postgraduate Diploma in European Business from the Canterbury Christ Church University.
She started her legal career in England in 2000 based in Brighton, specialising in dispute resolution. Her natural enthusiasm for work involving an international dimension soon prompted a career move to London where she joined Irwin Mitchell’s travel litigation team.
Whilst training for her Private Pilot Licence, Carmen developed a keen interest in aviation law and developed further expertise with City firms Clyde and Co and Gates and Partners (now Kennedys Aviation).
For more than a decade, Carmen has dealt with a wide range of legal issues including liability and commercial matters for insurance companies and multinationals, with a particular focus on Spain and South America.
With over ten years’ multi-jurisdictional experience with London firms, Carmen recently joined Mayo Wynne Baxter to further develop the firm’s international services.
As well as continuing to fly light aircraft whenever she can in her spare time, Carmen also enjoys cycling, martial arts, meditation, dancing and travelling.
