Dementia Awareness

On 12 October, I had the privilege of representing Mayo Wynne Baxter and the Lewes and District Dementia Action Alliance at Parris Lawn Care Home’s inaugural Dementia Awareness Event.

The event was a vibrant tapestry of people from all walks of life, united by a common goal: to raise awareness and support for those living with dementia and their caregivers. What struck me the most was the sense of community that enveloped the event as the residents of Ringmer were eager to learn, connect, and share their personal stories.

Interacting with visitors was a heartwarming experience. I had meaningful conversations with caregivers who spoke of their daily challenges and triumphs and I was able to give them advice about how Mayo Wynne Baxter can help with the legal side of these challenges by making sure that the affairs of their loved ones are in order.  Families and friends of those affected, as well as those living with dementia came to the event seeking information and I felt privileged to provide them with resources and a compassionate ear.

Being part of the Dementia Awareness Event rekindled my belief in the power of community and reinforced the importance of empathy and understanding. It was a day that highlighted the positive impact we can make when we come together to support a cause as vital as dementia awareness.

Mayo Wynne Baxter is a member of the Lewes and District Dementia Action Alliance and we are committed to making sure that our services are Dementia Friendly.

I would be pleased to have a confidential conversation with anyone who is living with dementia, or their carers or families, about how I can make your lives easier by ensuring that you have valid Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney in place.
