Mayo Wynne Baxter advise residents on planning proposals for Bowden House School

Mayo Wynne Baxter’s Head of Planning Linda Saunders has recently advised residents in Seaford about new proposals for Bowden House School.

Plans have been submitted by Tower Hamlets Council, which own the school and use it to provide residential education to children with special behavioural needs. The proposals centre on demolishing the current 1930’s building and replacing it with two new buildings for teaching and residential use.

Linda was approached to provide planning advice by local residents concerned at the loss of Bowden House and the effect the new buildings would have on the local conservation area and the established character of the community.

English heritage have recently launched a campaign to preserve historic school buildings in light of the government’s “Building Schools for the Future” initiative. Further details can be found here.

The consultation period for the application closes on the 19th February. For further information on the planning application please contact Linda Saunders at lsaunders@mayowynnebaxter.co.uk
