Do not be worried by the housing market headlines

You cannot have failed to see on the news or read in the papers, some of the horror stories surrounding the state of the housing market. Sure the market appears to be slow at the moment, largely due to higher interest rates, high cost of housing and not to mention mortgage costs rising due to squashed credit facilities impacted by the misuse and overuse of credit which has lead to the current difficulties here and in the USA, not forgetting the inevitable overspend at Christmas. All these factors affect the ability of first time buyers to get on the property ladder who in turn, it could be argued, support the rest of the market.

HIPs Update

The announcement by Ruth Kelly on 22nd May has left the future of Home Information Packs (HIPs) hanging in the balance. It seems they will still go ahead on 1st August - at least for properties with 4 or more bedrooms - but it will no longer be necessary for the HIP to be in place at the first point of marketing, instead the HIP will merely have to be "commissioned".
