Catastrophic Injury Unit

The Mayo Wynne Baxter Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Team launched our dedicated Catastrophic Injury Unit in April 2006. The unit comprises clinical negligence solicitors with many years of experience of representing children suffering with cerebral palsy resulting from birth related injury and other clients with serious brain and spinal injuries. Our years of experience have given us a thorough understanding not only of the complex medical and legal issues associated with claims of this kind, but also the enormous practical day to day difficulties faced by the victims of such serious injuries and their friends and families.

We have developed an extensive network of experts, including barristers, medical practitioners, care experts and case managers, all of whom use their very considerable expertise and experience to ensure that every avenue is explored in the investigation of your potential claim.

If we can prove negligence we will then work closely with the families of the claimant and our experts to ensure that your compensation is maximised. The quantification of a claim for a brain injured claimant is a hugely complicated exercise and our familiarity with the issues involved will ensure that you are properly compensated for each and every way you have been affected by the negligence in question.

We recognise that the culmination of a claim with an award of compensation does not mark the end for either the claimant or the claimant’s family. Brain injury claimants will often be awarded considerable sums of money which require careful investment to ensure that the claimants’ various needs are met for the remainder of their lives. We offer a receivership service whereby we will shoulder the considerable burden of managing the claimant’s care requirements and overseeing the investment of the claimant’s compensation. Not only does this relieve the claimant and his or her family of the considerable stress associated with management of the compensation fund, but it gives the peace of mind that the receiver is a specialist solicitor familiar with the medical and practical issues faced on a day to day basis by a claimant with a brain injury.
