Below is a brief summary of our recent professional negligence claims against surveyors.
Our client's claim is for defective advice on a survey on purchase of a residential property. Surveyors failed to notice cracks on the property. Stressed rafters within the roof were causing an overload and consequently cracking appeared throughout the property. The claim against the surveyors was successfully settled.
We are instructed by a claimant who bought a property following the reassurance of obtaining a full survey from a chartered surveyor. Unfortunately, the surveyor concluded that cracks which were obvious in the property were not a cause of concern. The claimant later found that the cracks were a result of serious subsidence and there may be substantial work required on the property. This case is ongoing.
