Many people feel the impetus to donate to local charities but the choice of which one to support can seem daunting. This is where Sussex Community Foundation can help.

The Foundation can advise on local giving and acts as a link between donors and local needs by awarding grants to a whole host of charities and community groups right acrossSussex. Donors are able to set up their own Fund at the Foundation which allows them to choose the causes they want to support.

The Foundation’s unique selling point is that they actively target small groups, mostly run by volunteers, doing valuable work in their local community. These may be providing lunches for the homeless, running a swimming club for the disabled or planting a community orchard.

Often these are smaller groups that do not have the profile of larger charities but for whom a small donation can make a big difference. For such groups a relatively small amount of money can also mean the difference between an organisation flourishing or ceasing to be.
